With that in mind, Share Point 2010 is like a sea of icebergs – there is a lot going on under the surface that you may not notice until it’s too late.

Simply put, the Item Updating and Item Updated fire twice when adding a document to a library that has the Require Check Out option enabled.

To understand why this is happening, let’s first look at what happens when the user adds a document to the library when the Require Check Out option is disabled: So the net result of this is that the document is uploaded and the Item Adding and Item Added events have fired, which is pretty much what you would expect.

they are throwing this error:"Object not set to an instance of an object". I have no idea what should I do or change in the form library to make my code work as in my test form library.

Before Properties is working fine in Item Updating, but Afterproperties and List Item do not.

It is nice to update Title in Item Adding and Item Updating events since extra Updates are avoided (without Disable Event Firing), and the "Edit Properties view" will already have the Title filled in Some code example to update title based on filename. For working with Title in Lists, ["Title"] needs to be used.

Solution: use the synchronous event itemupdating, get current item and read it's properties.

Edit: I saw that fields used in the Form library where I get my error are in gray color, whereas in my test Form library are blue and clickable. Does it mean that the data is saved first in the xml and then is saved in the readonly field? This works for me, but it might not work for others.
